Da Vinci Code

Watched the famous yet disputable movie--Da Vinci Code last night. It was a fascinating story, but story is just story. Nobody in the world can give any evidence on the truth of the myth, unless we can invent some time machine and go back to 2000 years ago and witness the truth by ourselves.

Although I am on neither side of the dispute, following the clear logic in the movie, can I really say that there is not even a tiny little possibility for the story to be true? I hesitate to say no. Perhaps so do a lot of us.

By comparing to Christian and a lot of other religions, I realise that Buddhism never talks about the origin of humanity. It does not advocate that there is one almighty God, but focuses on the religious practice and experience. A lot of people understand Buddha as the God or one of the most powerful Gods, considering the number of Gods we have in our millions of temples. However Buddha can also be used in a general sense, which refers to a person that discovers the natural truth of reality through years of spiritual cultivations, investigation of various religious practices of his time, and meditation. Moreover not only the so called gifted ones, but everyone of us could reach the level of Buddha, if we strive to find our own paths.
